Sylvester likes to come with us if we walk the dogs down to Fouche Gap after dinner. He runs around ahead of us and then falls behind. He meows if we get too far away. People passing in cars always look and smile when they see a cat walking with us and the dogs.
I got tired of Lucy constantly pulling on her leash, so Mark tied it to Zeke’s collar. Zeke barely even knows she’s there.
Love that leash tied to Zeke’s collar. A great solution to that problem. Nice to see Sylvester out for a walk with everyone.
What a clever person Mark is!
I’ve noticed a number of things that people who aren’t around cats much don’t know. Cats growl. Just like dogs. It’s a little rarer, but as you’ve mentioned, some cats will also fetch. Our youngest is obsessed with it. Sometimes he’ll even growl if another cat comes too close to his toy.
The walking companion cat is another. I walk a little too fast for the cats to keep up with, but Glenn is just their speed. When he takes a tour of the woods, he always has an entourage that escorts him there and back.
The dogs on leashes remind of a cartoon I saw years ago. Two dogs are sitting next to a piano; a cat’s tail is hanging down from the piano’s top. One dog is saying to the other, “Even if I could get up there, they wouldn’t let me.”
Robin — Chloe sometimes follows us, and Zoe used to follow us about halfway down the street.
Wayne — I would like to see Glenn’s entourage.
Ridger — The cat’s tail could be hanging from the couch here.
I’d be so afraid that Sylvester would do something unpredictable like run in front of a car. It’s wonderful that he’ll behave like this, but I wouldn’t be willing to take the risk.
Scott — We watch out for him when we’re walking and try not to let him get too close to cars in the road. We have even flagged cars down when we’re not sure the driver sees him. We don’t get much traffic up here but a lot of the traffic we get is youngsters driving around when they’re out of school
