This little green anole was perched on the last blue hydrangea bloom on the plant.
I didn’t have a camera when I saw it, so I ran inside and grabbed one. I thought it would be gone before I got back, but it stayed. It didn’t stay long; as soon as I got near, it disappeared into the blue.
On the Zoe front, still no news. We have placed an ad in the local newspaper, but it won’t appear until Tuesday. I’m not quite ready to give up on his return, but I have to admit I think the probability is small and shrinking.
Nice catch of the green anole on the blue hydrangea. Beautiful colors. I’m still hoping that Zoe can be found.
I just saw that Zoe has gone missing. I really hope he saunters back in soon. I’ve gone through the anxiety and sadness before too. Still on several occasions they’ve returned after a week, or I’ve found them. Once up a tree on the other side of the property, refusing to come down.
Robin — That little anole was very alert. He saw he come towards the plant with the camera, and he left. No hesitation. I was just lucky I got an insurance shot from a little distance.
We are still hoping, too.
Wayne — I think it’s possible he’ll come back, but I don’t see how he could be anywhere near the house without us seeing or hearing him, and he had gotten to where he never went far from the house. I have looked around in the woods near us, hoping to find him, or, in the worst case, find some evidence of what happened. Nothing so far. It may end up the way it did with my first doberman, Sheba, who disappeared forever without a trace.
Mark – we’ve had a couple of cats disappear in just that way, and I suspect coyotes or wild or wandering neighbor dogs. Absolutely no trace. We’ve also found a couple of cats, relatively quickly, who had probably been dispatched by a rattlesnake or copperhead. One semi feral elderly female just took to her instincts and wandered away to die. This is over 23 years and 30+ cats so it sounds worse than it is for us.
We’re down to five now, and all but one is totally indoors – we’ll never get him to tolerate the indoors.
Regardless, it’s just awful to not know what happened and still hope for the best. Which I do.
