Poor Zoe has mobility problems. He likes to lie on the sofa, but he doesn’t like jumping any more. He can still do it, but it takes him a few tries to work up the courage.
This is what he wants.
He doesn’t like jumping down much more than he likes jumping up.
Watching Zoe reminds me so much Bonsai. He had mobility issues as well. The last few years of his life he couldn’t jump onto the bed, and he really wanted to be there. So, I put a little trunk at the foot of the bed and he figured out how to jump on to that and then up on the bed. He was quite happy about that.
Thanks Robin. He takes 2 pain pills (gabapentin) twelve hours apart every day. He pretty much limps all day. It just seems like there should be a better pill for him…
Poor Zoe. I was going to suggest just what Robin mentioned. We did that for our elderly cats. Do you think heat would help the pain? We had a cat heating pad that was agreeable for ours. We put it in a low basket between layers of fleece pads.
Leah: The video wouldn’t load for me, so maybe you already had this idea. But, when one of our cats had mobility problems, we actually bought a really high-end, furniture-finish set of “bed steps” with three steps and placed it next to the bed so our cat could join us on the bed at night. It worked, though the wood was so nicely finished and smooth that, at first, I thought that our cat would slip off the steps. They never proved to be a problem, though.
Minnie — Zoe likes to sleep in a lot of different places. I’m not sure he would lie in one bed all the time. We might try it though.
Scott — He doesn’t sleep on the bed any more, but we are going to try to find something for him to use as a step to get on the sofa.
