Dusty is the most skittish cat we have. He will come up to me, but not Mark. He runs if you move too quickly. He likes to lie down where he’s at least partially hidden.

He gets up under the long ornamental grass at the end of the driveway and seems perfectly happy to stay for hours. But he got suspicious when Mark took this picture with his iphone, and right after this shot, he ducked into the culvert. We think he might sleep in the culvert, but we know for sure it’s one of his favorite boltholes.
Poor guy. He doesn’t know what he’s missing with closer human contact!
I know but sometimes he will let me pet him when he wants to be petted.
He is such a pretty cat. Is he somewhat feral? Did you get him as a kitten or was he a stray that adopted you?
Dusty is one of the three original strays that showed up right after we moved in. He and Rusty are Chloe’s kittens. They were not grown when they showed up, but they were older than kittens. He isn’t completely socialized, but he will let me pet him occasionally.
