To me, this captures Zoe’s personality.
I’m doing this Friday Felines instead of Leah, and I will admit to being more of a dog person than a cat person. But Zoe is not a good ambassador for cat country. He has bitten my wife multiple times. One of the bites resulted in a hospital stay. He bit Leah again not long ago, but she made sure to scrub the wound so it didn’t get infected. Lucky Leah. Lucky Zoe.
He has some issues. We think his eyesight is pretty bad, and he seems to limp sometimes. He also has digestive problems. The vets that have seen him haven’t really resolved those issues. So maybe he’s grouchy because he feels bad.
Well, Mark, you’re definitely a fine person to put up with cats when they’re not your forte. And you’re both good to take care of the abandoned.
It might just be luck, but none of our abandoned ones ended up being unpredictably difficult. There’s one that you never want to get your head below his, otherwise he’s a sweetie. Isn’t that weird.
We’ve also had several other cats that join the majority in not AT ALL liking their bellies scratched. Not even when they roll over on their backs. Especially not then! They’ll go crazy and render your hand to shreds if you try it. I’ve seen numerous people comment about giving kitties belly scritches, and I just think, they’re lying. Even if they have one exceptional cat that likes it, they must know there are ten or more that will send you to the hospital.
Dogs are different – they *like* to have their bellies skritched, or at least they aren’t going to contest the dominance game. I see it as the difference 10,000 years extra years of domestication. can make. In some ways, I like the deficit we have in cats.
